Weekly Photo Challenge: Near and Far in Santorini, Greece

Church Bells in Santorini, Greece

Santorini has some of the most picturesque scenery on Earth! The stark white buildings topped with blue roofs are set into the barren brown landscape. The traditional villages sit atop the tall cliffs carved from a volcanic eruption 3,600 years ago.

Stunning Santorini

The local villages are at the top of the caldera overlooking the blue Aegean Sea. Wandering through the meandering narrow streets is one of the best ways to spend your day here. The architecture is charming, the heights are dizzying, and the scenery is stunning as you gaze out to the lagoon and ocean beyond.

I think we have all seen lovely photos of Santorini, but you´ve actually been there! 🙂

Was it really as stunning as you imagined?

I have been lucky enough to go two times in my life! I went when I was 19 with my sister. I fell in love with the island and dreamed about returning there some day. When I had the chance to bring my husband and children there I jumped at the opportunity. It was just as fabulous as I had remembered it to be!!

Santorini is one of the beautiful places of Greece! Maybe it’s the volcano, i don’t know, but after you visit the island you fall in love with it! 🙂

It is so worth the trip. You have to see Mykonos too! Each island has a different vibe.

Now I know why the Greek flag is blue and white, the light is stunning. Nice photos, thank you.

I have never been but I cannot imagine a whiter white or bluer blue location on earth, given the photos I’ve seen! 🙂

Such a beautiful place! Did you ride a donkey?

The first time I went we rode the donkeys up. The next time I took the gondola.
